About Me
A 2002 graduate of Penn State University, I have 17 years experience as an SLP, including 12 years experience as an assistive technology specialist in public education. I have worked with students with disorders related to speech sound production, receptive and expressive language skills, as well as those who use AAC. In my role as an AT specialist I frequently collaborate with early childhood teams as well as teams of individuals with significant disabilities to foster communication, learning, and literacy. I value an emphasis on the social-emotional contexts in which language and learning occur to foster engagement and growth.
As a Speech Language Pathologist who has worked with students who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) in some capacity throughout my career, I am especially passionate about providing quality services to families, individuals, and service providers of those who benefit from AAC. I firmly believe that those supporting AAC users require multi-tiered support to facilitate use of communication tools in effective and meaningful ways. I am well-versed in technology resources as they continually evolve, improving the quality and accessibility of tools available to support individuals with complex communication needs. Engineering low-tech tools and adapted materials are also solidly within my repertoire, as evidenced by the myriad of resources I have developed and regularly make available to the teams with whom I work, and will be sharing here.
